35-year-old Abigail’s passion for helping others is clear. It shows in everything she does.
Based in New South Wales, she’s completing her master’s in counselling – a career based pretty much entirely on helping people.
But she also understands that business plays a role in pretty much every career these days. Counselling is no different.
That’s how she ended up enrolling in BSB30120 Certificate III in Business (Administration) at Duke Education.
'I wanted to do business because it could help me with pretty much any job or career.'
'I’m doing my master’s in counselling right now, and the business course goes really well alongside it!'
Why Abigail is Loving Duke
Abigail’s a busy woman. She’s in the midst of getting not one, but two qualifications.
So, Duke’s flexibility was a big selling point for her.
'I love the flexibility. I can study my master’s in person when I need to, and do my Duke course when I’m free. I like how there’s leeway on the due dates, too.'
Going from an in-person and formal style of learning in her master’s to an online, chatty style of learning at Duke took some getting used to for Abigail. But she quickly fell in love with our engaging way of learning.
'The chat-style learning is so interactive. It’s a whole new way of learning. I love it.'
And as for constructive feedback?
'The only thing that could make it even better is if I could make the chat speed a bit quicker!' she told us.
Abigail was then delighted when we pointed out the chat speed button, right up the top of the page!
What’s Next for Abigail?
Abigail has her sights set on finishing her master’s in counselling as well as her Cert III in Business (Administration) at Duke.
After that, she’ll be well-prepared for the job market.
Her advice to others who are thinking about studying is: think practically.
'Make sure the course works for you, and think about the outcome that the course will provide for you.'
Very wise, Abigail – we definitely agree!
